Dosage and Directions
Always consume Doxycycline after meals with a glass of water to reduce the irritation in the esophagus. Consume it as a whole or split it into two doses every 12 hours. Never consume an overdose. Never consume for an extended duration. Some brands of Doxycycline cannot be consumed with dairy products. The medicine should be consumed as a whole, without crushing, breaking or opening a delayed-release capsule. Shake the oral suspension before use, and use a measuring spoon or cup to ensure accurate dosage. Check the expiry date of the medication before consumption.
Consuming Doxycycline in the teeth growing stage, may permanency change the color of the teeth. While consuming Doxycycline, avoid exposing the body to UV radiation. Monitor the peripheral blood cell content, and undergo liver function tests as well as other tests to ensure there is no side effect.
Patients who are hypersensitive to Doxycycline and tetracyclines, pregnant or lactating women, patients suffering from liver failure, leucopenia, porphyria should never consume Doxycycline Common side effects may cause pain in the head, giddy spells, blurring of the
sight, body pain, skin rashes, darkened urination, stomach ache, chills, yellowing of the skin and other similar ailments. In case these or any other symptoms manifest during the course of the treatment, immediately discontinue the medication and seek the advice of your doctor.
Never consume Doxycycline with aluminum, magnesium, calcium based antacids, or minerals as it may slow down the absorption of the medication. Doxycycline increases Warfarin activity.
Phenytoin, carbamazepine and barbiturates can increase the absorption of Doxycycline.
Missed or Overdose
In case you miss a dose and realize it close to the time of your next dose, then you can resume your regular schedule. Never consume a double dose, or consume two doses within a short time gap, else it may trigger side effects. In case you notice any abnormal symptoms, then you should seek immediate medical assistance.
Doxycycline should be stored at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F away from the reach of children and pets. Never store it in places which are too bright or moist. Never consume after the expiry date.
