Loratadine is an antihistamine which reduces the level of normal substance histamine in the human body. Histamine triggers wheezing, tingling, runny nose, or watery eyes. Alavert is ideal for reducing the influence of regular hypersensitivities.
Follow the instructions mentioned on the label, or adhere to the directions given by your physician. Do not change the dosage without proper consultation. Consume only for the duration specified by your physician. Crushing, chewing, or breaking the regular loratadine tablet will reduce its potency. Hence, for best results, it is essential to swallow the pill altogether. In case of liquid medicine, you need to use a special dose-measuring spoon or cup to ensure the accuracy of the dosage.
You can consume Alavert once a day, or as per the instructions of your doctor.
Instructions to consume an orally disintegrating tablet of Alavert:
- Never remove the tablet from the blister pack before you need to consume it As pushing the tablet through the foil may damage it, you need to peel the fil from the tablet blister to remove it.
- This is a dissolvable tablet, and so, you need to keep it in your mouth and let it dissolve on its own. We do not recommend chewing or swallowing it as a whole.
- Never touch the tablets with wet or dirty hands. Place the tablet on your tongue and let it dissolve.
- Alavert needs to be consumed orally only.
We recommend storing Alavert at room temperature ranging from 20 to 25 degrees C. Never store it in places which are humid, bright or in front of heat. Never keep it in the bathroom. You need to store it in a tight, light-resistant container. Ensure that Alavert is away from the reach of children and pets.
Never consume Alavert in case:
People who are allergic to loratadine or desloratadine (Clarinex) should not consume Alavert. It is better to seek medical advice before beginning your dosage. People suffering from kidney or liver disorders too need to seek medical advice before starting their dosage.
Although this medicine does not cause any harm to an unborn baby, it is safe for pregnant ladies to consume it. However, lactating mothers should not consume it, as the loratadine can be harmful to the baby. It is not suitable for children below the age of 6.
Like all medications, there are minor chances of side effects. In case you suffer from uneven heart rate, dizzy spells, yellowing of skin or eyes, or seizures, you need to discontinue the medicine immediately and seek medical assistance. In case you notice symptoms of breathlessness, hives, swelling around the face, lips, tongue or throat; blurring of vision, redness of the eye, nausea, runny or bleeding nose, headache or other reactions then you need to discontinue the medicine immediately. In case the side effects do not subside after a while you need to seek medical assistance.
